Training to avoid Accidents
Because construction sites are known accident hot spots, The Health and Safety Executive take a special interest in them.
Training needs to encompass all aspects of the job - the use of protective clothing and footwear, the techniques to lift awkward and heavy and weights, how to operate machinery, how to safely use ladders - each construction task carries different risks of injury.
The employers on the construction site have a duty to alert their employees to these dangers and take practical steps to try and remove or reduce the level of risk as far as possible.
Because of all these known risks, the construction site employers, through the site manager, have onerous responsibilities. If they neglect this duty of care, they are not only putting their workers in danger but also running the real risk of a construction site compensation claim.
