To get life insurance, the insured person must be at least 18 years old. So it will not be possible to insure your children, assuming that your children are under that age!

However, if you buy critical illness cover alongside a life insurance policy, then most insurers will automaticall provide critical illness cover for all your children and at no extra cost. The payout rate for children will be less than you insure yourself for, but the benefits are well worth having. (For example, one insurer, limits the payout for a child to a maximum of £25,000, no matter what level of cover you have bought for yourself.)

If you are interested, talk your requirements through with a life insurance broker. I suggest you go to the life insurance page of this site and ask for a quote, When the broker phones you back, chat through your requirements.
