When I renewed my pet insurance for my dog they offered me public liability insurance for £1 million. I said no. Should i have taken it?

Dog owners have a legal responsibility to ensure that their pet does not cause accidents, cause damage or attack etc, any third parties (this legal responsibility does NOT apply to cat owners - that's why Public Liability cover is not available for cats!)

So it IS a good idea to have Public Liability cover. I see that you have been offered £1 million cover but thare are lots of policies that offer double that. I do not know how much you have been quoted for this extra cover, or indeed whether you can now add it to your policy, but in principle i think it is a good idea.

I suggest that you get some competitive quotes which include Public Liability cover and compare the cost with what you are currently paying.

Hope that helps.
