Hot Topics
- Can you be refused Travel Insurance?
- Insurance is all about risk. The greater the risk of an illness, accident, loss or another event occurring, the higher the premium you will be expected to pay for cover. If the Insurance Company decides that the chances of an incident occurring are extremely high, it is not obliged to insure you.
- How do you make a claim on your Travel Insurance Policy?
- If you need to make a claim, contact the Insurance Company that issued your policy as quickly as possible. You’ll find full details explaining what to do in the booklet that came with your policy. Don’t forget to take the booklet and a note of your policy number with you!
- Are there any reasons why I may be unable to claim?
- All claims should be honoured by your Travel Insurance Company providing you have supplied correct information and acted responsibly with your personal belongings. If this is not the case, your policy will be void and you will be unable to claim!
- What should you do if you want to complain about your travel insurance?
- Firstly, write to your insurance company and if you are still not satisfied contact the financial ombudsman.
- Do you need special travel insurance for ski-ing holidays?
- At the very least you should top up standard travel insurance with ski cover - but you are probably better off buying a specialist ski or extreme sports travel policy which gives you more extensive cover.
More than likely, the basic cost of a typical Specialist policy will include ski- cover but you will probably have to pay extra to cover additional named activities.
As you can imagine with extreme sports and activities, the risks are higher and the medical bills usually are too.
So it’s essential to make sure you are covered before you get an impulse to do any activity from pony-trekking to white-water rafting.
