What do I do when my pet dies?
You are covered if your pet dies from accident or illness - although you are not covered if your pet dies from old age.
When your pet dies you will need to complete the claim form and send it to your insurance company, along with a death certificate from your vet, the pedigree certificate and receipt from when you bought your pet. You will then be given a cheque for the original cost of your pet.
If your pet dies while you are abroad on holiday, you will be covered for holiday cancellation costs if you wish to return immediately.
If your pet dies while abroad with you on holiday, you will need pet travel insurance to cover the costs of either disposal, or repatriation. You will also be covered for holiday cancellation costs.
