How quickly will your application be processed?
The short answer is that the speed depends upon your personal details.
Hot Topics
- What personal details do you need to provide to get a quotation for Life Insurance?
- Only your date of birth, sex and whether you're a smoker. So it's really simple to get an immediate quotation.
- How long should you insure for?
- For mortgage protection purposes you should also insure yourself for the same number of years that are remaining on your mortgage. The initial sum insured should always equal the capital sum outstanding on your mortgage.
- Should you include Critical Illness cover on your Life Insurance policy?
- You should certainly consider taking out Critical illness cover whether you combine it into your Life Insurance policy (which is by far the cheapest way to buy both insurances) or you take out separate policies (which gives you far more protection – see below).
- What is the Difference Between Critical Illness Insurance and Terminal Illness insurance?
- Critical Illness Insurance is much more comprehensive than Terminal Illness cover.
- Can you have different levels of cover on a joint life policy?
- Yes you can - but it may be better to buy separate policies.
If it is straightforward, and you have sent your Application form back in the post, the quickest will be a week.
Most insurers accept about 3 in 10 of Applications almost immediately. For the others there are delays; about half of Applicants have to wait three weeks and to 2 in 10 wait 6 weeks or more. The remainder are largely completed within 10 weeks.
We aren't happy with such delays any more than you will be - but this is a realistic answer to the question.
