How is dental insurance regulated?
The private medical and dental insurance industries are regulated by the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC).
If your broker is a registered broker and a member of the GISC, they will deal with your complaint on your behalf. However if you are not satisfied with the way in which your complaint is dealt with, then there will be an independent dispute-resolution procedure.

If you bought your dental insurance direct from an insurance company, the first step is to contact them with your problem. They will have their own complaints procedure in place - a stipulation of the General Insurance Standards Council.

If your complaint cannot be resolved, it will progress towards an independent complaints procedure involving either The Financial Ombudsman Service or the General Insurance Standards Council. Your insurance company will advise you on which one you need to contact, and provide full contact details.
