Can You Include Your Children On A Critical Illness Policy?Yes. Most insurers will automatically include children on your policy.Generally Critical Illness policies will pay a cash sum if your child is diagnosed with one of the critical illnesses listed on the policy. To qualify a child has normally to be aged between 1 and 18 years (although some companies only consider children from aged 3). A payment made under the children’s provisions does NOT end the policy. So if a claim is made for a child, the policy will still remain in force. Therefore, you will still be able to make a claim if you (or your spouse, if the policy is arranged as Jointly) have a claim. When your children reach 18 then they are no longer insured under your policy. If they want Critical Illness cover they must take out their own policy. (We’re sure they won’t mind you paying the premiums!) Frequently Asked Questions related to the above topic.
