Most credit card companies will only allow you to make a minimum of £100 balance transfer either from or to your credit account, because of the administration involved.
You can withdraw cash from any cash machine, just like you can withdraw cash from your own bank account.
It’s important to remember however that cash withdrawals will incur a handling charge – this will vary between different credit card companies but expect a charge of 2% (the minimum charge is £2). Also, interest rates on cash are higher than for standard purchases, and this will be published as a Cash APR on your monthly statements. The typical interest rate for cash withdrawals is a lot higher than the interest rates on purchases, and could be as much as 30%. You may also find that any interest free days that you might get on purchases will not apply to cash withdrawals, and you will pay interest immediately on that transaction. You may also find that even if you pay your bill in full that month, you will still pay interest on your cash withdrawal.
Check your credit card company for more details on this, but basically only make cash withdrawals if you really need to as making purchases using your credit card will work out a lot cheaper.
